“Who will form INDIA Bloc?” Agnimitra Paul calls TMC ‘tukde-tukde gang’
A political controversy has surfaced in the 116 No. Assembly constituency of Bidhannagar after BJP candidate Sharadatta Mukhopadhyay alleged that the strong room at Bidhannagar College was opened on April 30 without informing him. He further claimed that ballot boxes were handled during this period, raising concerns over transparency and adherence to election protocols ahead of counting.
Following the allegation, a Deputy Magistrate from the Bidhannagar SDO office stated that he was not in charge of the strong room on that day and could not specify who was responsible at the time. He indicated that an inquiry is underway based on official records and added that preliminary information suggests the strong room may have been opened under the authority of the Returning Officer.
In response to the incident, Sharadatta Mukhopadhyay staged a protest at the SDO office, demanding clarity on the sequence of events and accountability from the authorities. The development has added to the ongoing tensions around strong room security, with political stakeholders closely monitoring the situation ahead of the counting process.
